BROKERAGES, by metro.

Where are real estate brokerage offices concentrated? This report ranks the 100 largest US metros by real estate brokerage offices per 100,000 residents, from the Census Bureau’s County Business Patterns. More offices per resident means more firms competing for the same listings and clients, and a website that shows the deals matters more.

Method

Establishments with paid employees in NAICS 531210 from County Business Patterns 2023, divided by the July 2025 population estimate for each metro. An establishment is a single business location, so a firm with three offices counts three times, and owner-only businesses without employees are not included. Metros use the 2023 OMB definitions; Orange County is shown as a county for comparison.
